Jorge Martin Sent to Medical Centre After Heavy Barcelona MotoGP Test Crash

MotoGP world champion Jorge Martin experienced another difficult moment during the official Barcelona test after suffering a heavy crash that forced race officials to briefly stop the session.

The Aprilia rider crashed at Turn 7 during Monday’s post-race MotoGP test at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The impact immediately brought out a red flag as marshals and medical personnel rushed to the scene to assist the Spanish rider.

Witnesses at the circuit reported that Martin remained conscious following the accident and was able to move his arms and legs while receiving medical attention. As a precaution, doctors placed a neck brace on the rider before transporting him by ambulance to the circuit medical centre for further examinations.

The incident marked Martin’s sixth crash of an extremely challenging weekend in Barcelona. Earlier sessions had already included several falls, including a violent FP1 accident that left the reigning champion with a mild concussion and arm bruising.

Martin’s struggles continued throughout the Catalan Grand Prix weekend. He crashed during practice, suffered problems in qualifying, and was also involved in contact during Sunday’s race restart. The repeated incidents created growing frustration inside the Aprilia garage as the rider searched for confidence on the bike.

After the latest fall, Aprilia confirmed that Martin underwent medical checks focusing mainly on his left elbow and right leg. Initial examinations at the circuit reportedly showed no obvious fractures, but the team decided to transfer him to Dexeus University Hospital in Barcelona for more detailed scans and additional evaluation.

Later reports from the hospital brought encouraging news for the MotoGP paddock. Doctors confirmed that Martin avoided major fractures despite the severity of the crash, offering relief to both Aprilia and fans following a weekend filled with dangerous incidents.

The Barcelona MotoGP round became one of the most chaotic events of the 2026 season, featuring multiple red flags, heavy crashes, and injuries involving several top riders including Alex Marquez and Johann Zarco. Martin’s accident during the test session added another dramatic chapter to an already intense weekend in Catalunya.
