Francesco Bagnaia Admits Feeling Dizzy After Johann Zarco Crash at Catalan MotoGP

Ducati rider Francesco Bagnaia revealed that he experienced dizziness and physical discomfort following his frightening collision with Johann Zarco during the chaotic 2026 Catalan Grand Prix in Barcelona.

The Italian rider was caught in a dramatic Turn 1 accident shortly after the race restarted following the first red-flag interruption. Zarco lost control under braking and collided with both Bagnaia and Luca Marini, creating another major incident that forced officials to suspend the race once again.

Bagnaia later admitted that the impact affected him more seriously than he initially expected. The Ducati star explained that he began to feel dizzy while riding during the later stages of the race and struggled to maintain full concentration on the bike.

According to Bagnaia, every braking zone became increasingly difficult as the symptoms continued throughout the race. He acknowledged that he may not have been fully fit to continue competing after the crash but decided to remain on track in order to finish the event safely.

Despite the physical challenges, Bagnaia managed to survive the chaotic conditions and secure an important podium result for Ducati. After crossing the finish line, however, he reportedly felt unwell again once he returned to the garage area.

The Catalan Grand Prix became one of the most dangerous and unpredictable MotoGP races of the season. Earlier in the event, Alex Marquez suffered serious injuries after colliding with Pedro Acosta’s slowing KTM, while Zarco himself later sustained knee ligament damage and a small ankle fracture during the Turn 1 pile-up involving Bagnaia and Marini.

Bagnaia also spoke emotionally about the aftermath of the accident, particularly after seeing Zarco trapped in the gravel following the collision. The Italian rider described the situation as difficult to witness and praised the medical teams for their rapid response during the repeated red-flag incidents.

Although Bagnaia eventually completed the race and celebrated his first podium finish of the 2026 season, the Ducati rider admitted the experience in Barcelona was mentally and physically exhausting. The dramatic weekend highlighted the growing concerns surrounding rider safety after multiple heavy crashes disrupted the Catalan MotoGP event.
