Jorge Martin Apologizes to Aprilia After Emotional Outburst in Catalunya MotoGP Garage

MotoGP world champion Jorge Martin publicly apologized to Aprilia after losing his temper inside the team garage during the chaotic 2026 Catalan Grand Prix weekend in Barcelona.

The Spanish rider became visibly frustrated after crashing out of contention during the final race restart following contact with fellow Aprilia rider Raul Fernandez. Martin had been running near the front and looked capable of fighting for victory before the incident ruined his chances of a strong finish.

The collision happened on the opening lap after the second restart of the face. Fernandez continued without major issues, while Martin rejoined the race at the back of the field after falling from second position. MotoGP stewards later reviewed the contact and decided not to issue any penalties.

After returning to the pit lane, Martin parked his Aprilia RS-GP outside the factory garage and reacted emotionally. Television footage showed the Spaniard sarcastically applauding before entering the garage area, where Aprilia management members Paolo Bonora and Massimo Rivola attempted to calm him down.

Speaking after the race, Martin admitted that his behavior inside the garage was unacceptable and revealed that he personally apologized to team manager Paolo Bonora. The reigning champion explained that the tension and disappointment from the race had overwhelmed him emotionally.

Martin also stated that he regretted pushing Bonora during the heated moment and described the reaction as unnecessary. According to the rider, he later tried to find Bonora privately in order to apologize directly for his actions.

Despite the frustration, Martin attempted to focus on the positive aspects of the weekend. Before the crash, the Aprilia rider demonstrated competitive pace and appeared capable of challenging for another podium result in Catalunya.

The emotional scenes added more drama to an already chaotic Catalan MotoGP event, which featured multiple red flags and several major crashes involving riders such as Alex Marquez and Johann Zarco. Many fans on social media sympathized with Martin’s frustration, while others criticized the outburst as unprofessional behavior inside the Aprilia garage.

Martin’s relationship with Aprilia has faced challenges over the past year due to injuries, performance concerns, and earlier contract disagreements. However, both sides have recently shown signs of rebuilding trust ahead of the remainder of the 2026 MotoGP season.
