Prima Pramac Racing adds Formula 1 experience to improve Yamaha MotoGP development, aerodynamics, and technical performance

Prima Pramac Racing has made a major move by recruiting an experienced figure from Formula 1 to strengthen its technical structure in MotoGP. A former engineer who previously worked alongside Ross Brawn has officially joined the Pramac Yamaha project as part of the team’s effort to improve its competitiveness in the premier class.

Pramac’s decision to bring in talent from Formula 1 highlights the seriousness of its long-term project with Yamaha. After ending its partnership with Ducati and beginning a new era as Yamaha’s satellite team, Pramac has continued searching for ways to accelerate bike development and reinforce its technical department.

The newly recruited engineer is known for having extensive experience in Formula 1, including involvement in successful projects alongside Ross Brawn. Brawn himself is regarded as one of the most influential figures in Formula 1 history thanks to his achievements with Benetton, Ferrari, and Mercedes. Experience from the Formula 1 environment is expected to introduce a fresh technical approach to MotoGP development.

Pramac believes that transferring knowledge from Formula 1 can improve the team’s efficiency, particularly in data analysis, aerodynamics, and motorcycle performance development. Modern MotoGP has become increasingly dependent on technology and technical details, making Formula 1 expertise especially valuable.

This new collaboration is also expected to help Yamaha close the gap to Ducati, KTM, and Aprilia. In recent seasons, Yamaha has struggled to consistently compete at the front of MotoGP. As a result, additional support from experienced specialists is considered essential to speed up the development of their new project.

Beyond motorcycle performance, Formula 1’s professional working methods are also expected to influence the team’s internal operations. Experience gained from the world’s most technologically advanced racing category is hoped to raise Pramac Racing’s operational standards in MotoGP.

Pramac’s move demonstrates how MotoGP competition is becoming increasingly influenced by technological innovation from across different motorsport disciplines. Many teams are now using Formula 1 expertise to gain a competitive advantage in motorcycle development and race strategy.

With the arrival of new Formula 1 talent, Pramac hopes its Yamaha project can develop more rapidly and eventually return to fighting at the front of MotoGP over the coming seasons.
