The race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya turned into one of the most intense events of the season, featuring two separate red flags, several heavy crashes, and multiple riders requiring medical attention. Despite the confusion and repeated restarts, Di Giannantonio stayed composed and guided his VR46 Ducati to victory with a decisive late-race overtake.

From the opening lap, Pedro Acosta looked dominant after converting pole position into an early lead. He initially controlled the pace while battling pressure from rivals including Raul Fernandez and Alex Marquez. However, the momentum of the race changed dramatically midway through the contest.

A serious incident occurred when Acosta’s KTM suddenly slowed due to an apparent technical issue. Alex Marquez was unable to avoid contact and crashed heavily into the back of the bike. The collision scattered debris across the track and also affected several nearby riders, forcing race officials to stop the event immediately.

Medical crews responded quickly, and Marquez was later transported to hospital for precautionary examinations. The incident led to a lengthy delay before the race resumed.

Shortly after the restart, another dangerous accident triggered a second red flag. Johann Zarco became entangled with his motorcycle following contact involving Francesco Bagnaia and Luca Marini at the first corner. Zarco also required medical checks after the crash.

Once racing resumed again, Di Giannantonio steadily worked his way toward the front. He eventually caught Acosta in the closing laps and executed a clean overtaking move to seize the lead. From there, the Italian rider maintained control until the checkered flag to capture his second MotoGP career win and deliver VR46 Racing Team its first premier-class victory in several years.

Joan Mir impressed with a strong ride to second place, while Fermin Aldeguer completed the podium after a consistent performance for Gresini Racing.

Acosta’s difficult afternoon became even worse near the finish when contact with Ai Ogura forced him out of contention. The incident ended any remaining hopes of a podium finish for the KTM rider.

Meanwhile, reigning stars such as Francesco Bagnaia and Fabio Quartararo managed respectable finishes despite the unpredictable circumstances throughout the race.

The Catalan Grand Prix will likely be remembered not only for Di Giannantonio’s impressive comeback victory, but also for the extraordinary level of drama and danger that unfolded across multiple race restarts in Barcelona.
