Ducati star Marc Marquez says being able to write his Sprint race notes by hand again is a key sign of progress in his recovery process.
Marc Marquez has revealed encouraging progress in his recovery process following the injury that recently cast doubt over his condition. The Ducati Lenovo Team rider explained that being able to write his Sprint race notes by hand again was one of the key signs that his physical condition is improving ahead of the Italian MotoGP.
According to Marquez, he routinely writes detailed notes after Sprint races, documenting important information about the bike’s performance, track conditions, and technical feedback for his team. Following his injury, however, even this simple task became difficult. Being able to write normally again is something he considers a significant milestone in his recovery.
The eight-time world champion explained that small improvements, such as writing comfortably by hand, provide a clear indication of his physical progress. For Marquez, recovery is not measured solely by his ability to ride a motorcycle at high speed but also by everyday activities that demonstrate his body is returning to normal function.
Marquez admitted that the days immediately following the accident were particularly challenging. Nevertheless, he feels that his condition has improved steadily with each passing day. Ducati’s medical staff and the doctors overseeing his treatment have continued to closely monitor his recovery to ensure there are no complications that could worsen the injury.
The Spanish rider emphasized that he remains cautious throughout the recovery process. He does not want to rush any decisions that could jeopardize his physical condition in the middle of a highly competitive 2026 MotoGP season. His primary objective is to ensure that he is fully fit before returning to peak performance on the track.
Although he is still undergoing medical evaluations, Marquez said he feels much more optimistic than he did a few days earlier. He believes that every small improvement is meaningful, especially after suffering an injury that affected his normal daily activities. The ability to manually write his Sprint race notes once again is regarded as one of those important indicators of progress.
Ducati continues to monitor Marquez’s situation ahead of the upcoming rounds of the championship. The Italian manufacturer is expected to take a cautious approach with one of its leading riders, particularly as the battle for the 2026 MotoGP World Championship remains extremely competitive.
With his recovery showing positive signs, Marquez’s chances of returning in competitive condition continue to improve. However, any final decision regarding his fitness to race will ultimately depend on medical assessments and team evaluations before the next race weekend.
