SEPANG, MALAYSIA – The transition from World Superbike (WorldSBK) to the pinnacle of motorcycle racing is notoriously difficult, but Toprak Razgatlioglu is making it look like a calculated art form. Following the conclusion of the Sepang Shakedown, Pramac Yamaha Team Manager Gino Borsoi shared his insights into the Turkish star’s rapid adaptation to the M1 V4.

A Methodical Approach to the M1 V4

According to Borsoi, Razgatlioglu’s debut isn't about chasing headlines with qualifying laps; it's about a deep, structural understanding of the MotoGP machinery. "What impresses us the most is his consistency. Every time Toprak hits the track, he returns to the garage having learned something fundamental," Borsoi remarked during the test.

Unlike many rookies who struggle with the overwhelming electronics and carbon brakes of a MotoGP bike, Toprak has shown a remarkably calm and analytical approach. Borsoi emphasized that the team is focusing on building a "feeling" for the bike’s front-end stability—a crucial element for Toprak’s signature aggressive braking style.

Bridging the Gap: SBK vs. MotoGP

One of the main challenges discussed by the Pramac boss is the difference in tire characteristics. While Razgatlioglu is a master of the Pirelli tires used in WorldSBK, the Michelin rubber in MotoGP requires a more nuanced touch.

"We are not looking at the stopwatch just yet," Borsoi explained. "Our priority is to translate Toprak's immense talent into the specific requirements of the Yamaha M1. He is currently 'cleaning' his riding style to suit the V4’s power delivery, and the progress is visible in every sector."

Synergy Within the Yamaha Garage

Borsoi also highlighted the positive atmosphere within the newly formed Pramac-Yamaha partnership. The collaboration between Toprak, his engineers, and factory feedback from Fabio Quartararo is creating a fast-track learning environment.

The Pramac manager believes that Toprak’s ability to provide precise feedback despite his limited experience on a prototype bike is a sign of his elite racing IQ. "He is a sponge for information. He listens, applies, and improves. That is the hallmark of a champion," Borsoi added.

The Road to the Official Test

As the Shakedown wraps up, the data collected from Toprak’s runs will be vital for the upcoming Official Sepang Test. With Borsoi’s guidance and Yamaha’s technical backing, the "Toprak Project" is moving forward at a pace that has the entire paddock watching with bated breath.
