Jorge Martin Suffers Two Highside Crashes at Sepang Test
Jorge Martin, the 2024 MotoGP world champion, suffered two highside crashes during the first day of the Sepang MotoGP test in Malaysia on Wednesday (5/2/2025).
Highside Crash at Turn 2
The first highside occurred at the tight Turn 2, sending Martin flying off his Aprilia RS-GP. The second highside was even more severe, with Martin tumbling through the air before landing heavily on the track.
Red Flag and Medical Attention
The session was red-flagged as marshals attended to Martin. He was initially taken to the circuit's medical center but was later transferred to a local hospital for further evaluation.
"Jorge Martin has been taken to the circuit medical center following a crash at Turn 2. He will undergo further medical checks. We will update you as soon as we have official medical information," Aprilia said in a statement.
Update on Martin's Condition
The latest information is that Martin will be taken to Aurelius Hospital in Nilai, about 6 km from the circuit. He is currently experiencing pain in his left leg and right hand.
Fabio di Giannantonio Also Crashes
In addition to Martin's crashes, Fabio di Giannantonio of VR46 also crashed at Turn 5 shortly after Martin's second incident. Fortunately, di Giannantonio did not suffer any serious injuries.Martin's Goals for 2025
Before the Sepang test, Martin spoke about his goals for the 2025 MotoGP season with Aprilia. He said that he feels no pressure at this time, unlike when he was fighting for the world championship with Francesco Bagnaia last season.
"I don't feel any pressure at the moment. I mean, the pressure we want is to achieve good results. But I think I will maintain my mentality from last season," he said.
